Installed it and also an update for “Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB915597 (Definition 1.71.833.0)”. The update says “Install this update to revise the definition files used to detect spyware and other potentially unwanted software. Once you have installed this item, it cannot be removed.”Know Firefox will not start. I get a pop up that says "Firefox has stopped working". I followed the different options that are talked about on the Firefox help web site. In Safe mode it opens. I have uninstalled it including the profiles, restarted the computer and installed Firefox 3.5.6. It still will not open but I do not receive any error notices. In the event viewer the error is Fault bucket 1562455984, type 1 Event Name: APPCRASH Response: None Cab Id: 0 Problem signature: P1: firefox.exe P2: 126.96.36.19993 P3: 4aef8082 P4: StackHash_2388 P5: 0.0.0.0 P6: 00000000 P7: 80000003 P8: 0236058a P9: P10: Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.update Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB915597 (Definition 1.71.833.0) 2.shut down for the night 3.install read later 4. restart firefox Actual Results: You get a pop up that states "Firefox has stopped working" Expected Results: The browser should have opened to MSN.com I loaded Google gears 12/12/09 and have had no troubles until 12/14/09. I am using the defualt theme and dissabled all extensions and add-ons before resulting to uninstalling firefox. When I installed Firefox 3.5.6 I imported bookmarks from IE.

Firefox opens in safe mode, I disabled all the extensions and add-ons from here. closed out Firefox and restarted the computer. Tried opening Firefox again and still nothing. I then opened Firefox in safe mode and created a new profile. Closed out Firefox and restarted the computer, tried opening Firefox again and nothing. Read it later is an add-on for Firefox, there was an update that I installed.
