The background color is always blue the foreground color is whatever the tag color is, at least it should be white. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.put cursor on color tagged message 2.switch to different folder 3.switch back to the first folder Actual Results: foreground and background colors are wrong. Bgrd always blue fgrd the tag color Expected Results: bgrd tag color, fgrd white as it was at step 1. OS is Fedora 7 using KDE. Moving the cursor restores the right colors

Does the same thing happens when you run Thunderbird in -safe-mode (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode) ?(In reply to comment #0) > When the cursor is on a tagged message (i.e. green) and I switch to another > folder when I switch back the foreground is green and the background blue > instead of white/green (for a tagged msg) or white/blue (untagged msg) > resulting in an unreadeable line. I get something similar but the line stays readable. Does the same thing happens when you run Thunderbird in -safe-mode (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode) ?
Yes I tried in safe mode and the same thing happens. It's unreadable when the tag is green or blue, due to the blue background, other colors are slightly better. I suppose it depends on monitor settings too. I added the screenshot.
confirming on Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091204 Thunderbird/3.0, It's because the message is not selected.

With TB 3.1 the situation is even worse. Now it is sufficient to click on the folder (without switching to a differente folder) to trigger the background change bug. Selecting another window does the same.
Just to let you know that with TB 5.0 nothing changed, the bug is still there. G
An update: just installed TB 60.0 on Fedora 28 (KDE). Bug is still there. As I use a lot of green and blue tag, this is annoying. Not critical, but annoying. G

Sounds a bit like Bug 935485 - painting issue in message list pane (linux). Some selected rows will be painted completely white, some in background color of color of tag. Hover over row corrects the problem. (HWA?)

What happens if you change the setting for "hardware acceleration" at prefs > advanced > general ?

Summary: switching back to folder with tagged message result in wrong colors → switching back to folder with tagged message result in wrong colors. Changing selection restores the right colors

I have now version 60.3.1 and the error is now different.

When I click on the folder now the background turns grey and foreground the tag color,
not tag FG on green BG (unreadable when tga was green or blue) ,
not perfect (white FG on tag BG as usual) but now it's readable and I am happy with it.

Changing the "hardware acceleration" doesn't change the display, but I use "nouveau" which I dont think does HW accel.

G

Thanks. So we can call this WFM.
