Dear SETI@home volunteer,

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Received email
2.clicked on unread email, header displays not the body
3.used CTRL-U to view body
Can you save the email from File -> save , choose eml format come back here and click on the Add an attachment link ?

Is that message also invisible when you start Thunderbird in -safe-mode (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode) ?

Any error in Tools -> Error console when you try to view this message ?
Saving the message as eml and Tried several ways to view without positive results.

Safe-mode made no change.

No errors in Error console.
With TB2 I had a similar issue, which only occurred when the message was on an imap server. The message as an eml file opened ok.
I think the problem only occurred on html messages which had an image in the html, and the image was attached to the email, probably in some strange way.

This was bug #232275 - though I could not reproduce with TB3.
A few comments to the attachment above:

This is an S/MIME signed mail with a text file attachment. Delete the attached info.txt using a text editor (rows 80-87), and the message body is displayed, and the signature is correctly reported to be invalid.

Replace "micalg" with "_micalg" (or whatever) on row 18, and the message body is also displayed correctly while the signature is treated like any attachment, which is fine.

However if the .eml is left unchanged, Thunderbird 3.1.7 silently fails displaying the message body (and does not mark it as read). No error messages, nothing. Thunderbird 3.0 and 2.x displays the message body correctly.
