User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2b5) Gecko/20091204 Firefox/3.6b5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2b5) Gecko/20091204 Firefox/3.6b5
Yesterday, after closing the whole Firefox browser and reopening some time later, Firefox updated by itself because of the availability for the new version.
When I tried opening this new version, is showed me the message "Error: Platform version '1.9.0. 15' is not compatible with minVersion >= 1.9.0. 16 maxVersion <= 1.9.0. 16".
I was then forced to use Internet Explorer and download the Firefox 3.5.6 setup which didn't work either and said "File is corrupt" when I tried opening it.
Finally, I had to download the Mozilla Firefox 3.6 Beta 5 which works, and I am currently on this browser filing this bug.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Turn on computer
2. Click on the icon for Mozilla Firefox
Actual Results:
The same error window shows up.
Expected Results:
The Mozilla Firefox browser is supposed to open a new window.
Note that this happened after the automatic update for the new version which was December 16, 2009. This could be related instead of a coincidence since this has never happened before.
Have you tried it in safe mode? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode
Someone emailed me back saying:
PST ---
Have you tried it in safe mode? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode
I've right clicked on the Mozilla Firefox icon and clicked on the Safe Mode option, but the same box with the error still pops up.

What is the 'error window' that pops up? Can you attach the text and/or screenshot of this window.

Two suggestions -
1) Reinstall Firefox
2) Take a look at http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?locale=pl&comments_parentId=110904&forumId=1#threadId120007 and adapt to your version issue
If you need additional help please use the Firefox support methods at http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/

Thanks for the info, Tim, but after clicking on the link I still ran into more problems. The post says to go to the Mozilla Firefox directory and edit the "application.ini" file. I can't edit anything if I don't even know how to get to the Mozilla Firefox Directory. More help please?

On most computers the directory would be C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

Thanks for even more help but I think I'll just consider uninstalling Firefox and just downloading it again. Apparently the "application.ini" file is only accessible through an unknown application.
The Beta version for 3.6 works fine for me right now! :)
