User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091201 Firefox/3.5.6 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091201 Firefox/3.5.6 I have seen that Opera has invented a such called Turbo Mode ( i don't use opera ) but i think firefox implant this great option ,i have some times that are not working i don't know why without this stupid option even i have a fast internet, and many people will be very happy with this option, look on google,at forms and etc. Hope you will consider to implant this. Reproducible: Always Actual Results: See more at http://www.opera.com/browser/turbo/
Since this is a proxy service, the question of how the bandwidth costs of running it will be covered must be considered. I wonder if Opera is counting on their market share not suddenly increasing 16-fold to that of Firefox, for their proxy to not get too expensive to run.
Will firefox think about implanting a option like this in the near future?
I think it would be far-fetched that we implement something like this. Opera has a very small user footprint, so a proxy for (potentially) all Opera users would be easier to implement. Firefox's userbase is way too large. Just my 2 cents.
Yes i think you are right but i think it's a nice option, you can't get like 10-20 fast proxy's for firefox? can't you get a sponsor or something like this to support firefox a very well know web browser and the best..maybe google?
There have been 500 million downloads of Firefox so far, you can guess how many users there are. If you´re really thinking that 10-20 proxies would be enough, then you need to think again. Besides, it´s not the amount of servers that counts, it´s the bandwidth.
Yes you are right ,maybe can somebody sponsor such a nice company like mozilla i don't know, post a announcement on the site see if somebody can provide a support with fast proxy connections to implant them in firefox. or it will never be implanted in firefox? anyway firefox is great and the best a+++ for you people thanks for making us enjoy the web.
Note that Opera´s Turbo mode was originally used for mobile connections (using Opera Mobile), where your local ISP would provide this proxy service. In other words, it´s an optimised form of webcache. Later Opera released the same code for the regular webbrowser, by providing their own proxy servers. But that´s their business, possibly a smart move as long as they don´t have too many customers.
Yes you are right here, proxy or not mozilla is the best , to bad it's released 1 a month and not 2 times lol , anyway good job.

Can some about:config tweaks not help with slow connections?
