User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091201 Firefox/3.5.6 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091204 Thunderbird/3.0 I have procmail/spamassassin pre-filtering my mail and putting most of the spam I receive into one of two folders called possibly-spam and probably-spam (based on the mail's spam score). Then, in Thunderbird I have junk mail controls cleaning up much of the remaining spam that makes it through that filter. This is all on in IMAP server. That's working well but it appears, upon upgrading to TB 3.0, that the mail in those two junk mail folders is being scanned, as mail with spamassassin added headers is being put into the junk mail folder used by TB junk mail controls (which I have called inbox-junk). I go through my inbox-junk from time to time and delete messages. Much less frequently I go through the other junk mail folders and delete messages, usually simply deleting anything older than a week old. They are mostly there in case someone asks if I got something and I didn't, I can look there, just in case. If this is indeed what is happening (junk controls running on my junk folders), I'd like the ability to specify that specific folders not have junk mail controls run on them. Better yet would be the ability to create a folder which will contain all of my multiple junk folders and those are all exempt from junk mail controls. It's quite possible that I'm misreading what's going on here but that's certainly what it looks like to me. Reproducible: Always
I did not attempt to understand your exact use case, but your request >I'd like the ability to specify that specific folders not have junk mail >controls run on them. Better yet would be the ability to create a folder which >will contain all of my multiple junk folders and those are all exempt >from junk mail controls. is implemented in the backend in TB 3.0, but with no UI. The feature is exposed in my extension JunQuilla at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/9886 This adds an inherited folder property "Analyze Junk" which determines whether the junk processing is performed on a folder and its descendents. You've described very well why I am a proponent of inherited folder properties, as described in http://mesquilla.com/2009/11/06/inherited-folder-properties-revisited/

I don't know if that means it won't be fixed or not but I guess that's good enough for me. I installed the extension and it seems to work well enough. I still think it should be part of the base system but I'll leave that for others to decide. Thanks Kent.
