User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; sv-SE; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091201 Firefox/3.5.6 GTBDFff GTB7.0 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)
Build Identifier: Thunderbird 3.0

When today Thunderbird was upgraded from version 2 to ver. 3.0, TB no longer accepted the old Master Password. Master Password did not work at all and could not be changed.

- Solution Thunderbird 3: Choose Tools – Error Console, paste the expression: openDialog("chrome://pippki/content/resetpassword.xul") and press the Evaluate button. That will open a dialog asking you if you want to reset your password.

BUT all passwords for mail accounts in TB were lost and had to be reentered. It did not affect my 40 passwords stored in Firefox, thank you. I conclude, that the Master Password works independently of one another in TB and Firefox, that should be stated.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Thunderbird was upgraded from version 2 to ver. 3.0

2.
3.
Actual Results:

A colleague of mine had migrated his TB2.0 profile to 3.0.1 and TB3 asked him for a master password despite the fact he never had set a master password in his previous configuration.
So he had to reset all his password list as described by Porter Sweden.
It happened to my sister on Windows Vista from Thunderbird 2.0.0.22 to 3.0.4, it didn't had a master password.
Had to solve it with the Error Console trick, it would be nice to have that feature in the passwords tab (reset the master password and loose all passwords).
Thanks!!!
