User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091201 Firefox/3.5.6 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091220 Shredder/3.0.1pre When the mail window is narrower than a typical line length, the line is not wrapped anymore. Unfortunately there is also no horizontal slider. I first encountered this problem with real long lines, such that the thunderbird window had to cover the whole screen, in order to see the complete message text. This problem did not occur in Thunderbird 2.0.0.23 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Send yourself a message with a single line like 123456789 223456789 323456789 423456789 523456789 623456789 723456789 823456789 923456789 2. Get the message and display it. 3. Make the window narrower. Actual Results: If the line width becomes smaller than approx. 40 characters, the line isn't wrapped further. The right part becomes invisible. The line length, when this happens, seems to depend on the number of menu buttons. For the "classical symbol selection" ("Klassische Symbolauswahl" in german) the critical line length seems to be about 100 characters. Expected Results: I would expect, that the text is wrapped as much as possible, or at least that a slider appears, which could help to read all the text. Problem occurs with the standard theme, but I experienced it also with the theme "Silvermel". In Linux there is no problem.
Alois you are saying it works on Linux and not windows right ? I'm seeing the same issue on Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091221 Shredder/3.0.1pre

It did look better on Linux, when I made the first comparisons, but later it turned out, that the problem is just the same: The problem starts, as soon as I make the window so narrow, that the buttons ("Reply", ...) in the mail window cover the From-header. If these buttons are also present in the main menu area, the window has to be really wide to see all the text. Sometimes the window gets a horizontal slide ruler, if the window becomes too narrow, sometimes not; I have not yet understood the pattern for that. Best wishes Alois
I'm working in Win 2000, and since updating to TB3 word wrap no longer works in any tabbed message window, either full screen or not. There are no horizontal sliders. Nor can I find any option for turning word wrap on or off. Word wrap seems to work in a composing frame, though. This is really annoying and an obvious basic necessity.

I should note it was closer to 30 characters for me. Definitely depends on the menu buttons.
Dmose did this regress with bug 499410 landing ?
Severity: normal → S3

I can't reproduce this with 147.0a1 on Mac
