Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; hu; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091201 Firefox/3.5.6
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; hu; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091204 Thunderbird/3.0

If I choose composing messages in text format, no way to increase font size (of course exclusively for visibility reason, no matter if the message itself will drop font size info)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Setting send message always in text format
2. Ctrl+N (New message)
3. Type anything
4. Ctrl+ + (increase font size)
5. type some text
Actual Results:
Typed text is always the same (in 1920x1080 resolution all too) small size

Expected Results:
1. include setting for display (!) font size in composing text messages in preferences so that while composing messages in text format visibility be still good OR
2. make Ctrl+ + function

increase display font size while composing (in text format font size will not be included anyway in the message sent, it is only about visibility for the Composer)
This works for me on Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091221 Shredder/3.0.1pre.

Do you have the issue if you start Thunderbird in -safe-mode (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode) ?
Fixed by bug 738194 for upcoming TB24 release:

- Ctrl++ to zoom in; Ctrl+- to zoom out; Ctrl+0 to reset zoom to 100%
- or Ctrl+mousewheel to zoom in/out
- or View > Zoom menu
