Pop-up tabs are occurring even at startup on my home pages of http://search.yahoo.com/firefox/. Some pages are worst than others. This is getting so bad, I'm about ready to download the new Explorer and try that.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start Firefox (occurs immediately)
2.Go to almost any web page
3.
Actual Results:
Severity varies from page to page but occurs almost everywhere now.

This build is outdated. Have you tried upgrading to Firefox 3.5?
Do you see the same problem in safe mode?
http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
Didn't know that there was an update. Perhaps and additional comment would be to ask Firefox to info all users upon release of new versions. Will download and try new version now. Thanks for the info.
I downloaded and installed vs 3.5. That did not fix the problem. I then tried safe mode and that also did not fix the problem. I checked tools, options, content and pop-up windows was checked. The pop-ups are a comin ;)

Firefox does ask users to upgrade to new versions. Perhaps you disabled this...
But, please create a new profile, and test there. http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+profiles
Also, try checking your system for malware.

Please post the address of a page where this happens.
Sorry guys...none of this seems to be working. I have run several scans with McAfee and my system is clean. Which is why I opened this bug. I have done the following; Virus scans, system cleaning, registry scan and repairs, downloaded and installed latest vs of Firefox, troubleshooting with new profile, checked all applicable user controlled settings. Everything appears to be where it should be. I'm stumped. Thanks again for helping...any more ideas?

Glenn, please try running some more in-depth scans, such as malwarebytes anti-malware, super anti-spyware, etc.

That page doesn't even have ads. So what exactly are you seeing there?
