537024 - can not reach ftp servers if the proxy address for the ftp is empty

I have Privoxy proxy in my network. But privoxy does not support proxying for ftp servers.

if i enter in firefox my proxy settings for ftp privoxy says "Invalid request. Privoxy doesn't support FTP."

so i hopped that i can connect to an ftp server if i left the address field for the ftp proxy blank in the firefox settings (port number can not be blank (default is "0")).

But this does also not work.

Firefox says to me after some time "Fehler: Netzwerk-Zeitüberschreitung
Der Server unter ftp.avm.de braucht zu lange, um eine Antwort zu senden."

Because the ftp Server can not be reached.

Actual Results:  
Ftp Sites can not be reached with firefox without having an proxy for ftp defined.


Expected Results:  
Firefox should have some checkboxes in the connections tab.
Where the User can define for which protocols firefox uses an proxy server and for which protocols firefox should not use an proxy server

for example:
for http protocol
firefox --> Privoxy Proxy --> Internet

for ftp protocol
firefox --> Internet
