Using Camino's search field. Have not tried using google.com.
Alan, can you please paste some crash report IDs for this crash, as described here: http://caminobrowser.org/documentation/bugzilla/#crash
I see you're on 10.4; do you have Google Desktop installed? If so, I bet it's bug 530343.

I do have Google desktop installed but, having removed it, the problem persists.

To be perfectly clear, each and every one of those crashes was caused by, and *directly* caused by, entering some search term(s) into the toolbar search field and pressing Return/Enter?
Because a whole bunch of them look like they couldn't *possibly* have been caused by that action. In the order you've posted them in comment 5, the first, seventh, eighth, and 10th are clearly nothing to do with the toolbar search field. (The 10th, in particular, is Flash.) bp-0be8b4bb-8529-41e4-b455-323672090919 is also probably not anything to do with the search field (looks like maybe a plugins issue).
Of the 21 different reports in comment 5, I count 16 that are clearly the Google Desktop bug, so I'd say it's safe to dupe this there (and also safe to say that it sounds like you haven't completely removed Google Desktop if you keep getting consistent crashes like bp-e2b51f40-7dfd-4509-affc-39a122091218 ).

Reporter, do you still se the issue in Camino 2.0.4 or the latest nightly: http://caminobrowser.org/contribute/#nightly ?
Also did you completely remove Google Desktop as suggested in comment 7 ?
