Description

Linux (2000-09-20-08 M18)
1. Launch Messenger
2. Check "Send mail as Plain Text" in fenella@netscape.com's address card
3. From Edit|Preference|Formating, check the second choice "Convert the Message
into Plain Text"
3. Click New Msg to open the Compose window
4. From Option|Format, select "Auto Detect"
5. Compose a message using bold text and regular text
6. Click on Send
Actual result: Message received shows HTML text. Do a View->Source Page, it
shows HTML text
Expected result: HTML text should be converted to plain text

This only occurs on Linux.

Works fine for me. Fenella, if all the recipient accept HTML, we will send the
message in HTML. The pref "Send mail as Plain Text" is used only if at least one
of the recipient doesn't accept HTML

> Fenella, if all the recipient accept HTML,

The reproduction includes explicitly marking the recipient as plaintext user.

> 2. Check "Send mail as Plain Text" in fenella@netscape.com's address card

netscape.com is an "HTML domain". Is this the bug - the HTML domain taking
precendence over the individual setting?
fenella, can you reproduce with a non-"@netscape.com" address?

> This only occurs on Linux.

This is odd.

REOPENing until the questions are resolved. qawanted.

I did this with build 2002-02-13-08 on RedHat 7.2 and it worked fine. Sent
plain text to my brother (while in HTML compose mode) and he received it fine as
plain text.
