Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091201 Firefox/3.5.6 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091204 Thunderbird/3.0 I use several email clients concurrently to access my mail on two different mail accounts. The clients are my iPhone, Thunderbird, and Outlook and the mail accounts are a dovecot IMAP server on Linux and Exchange. (Thunderbird access Exchange via IMAP) If I visit a folder in Thunderbird when it has messages by clicking on it in the folder view, then use another email client to delete all the messages in the folder, then there is no way to get Thunderbird to update the folder contents until another message is added to the folder or "Rebuild Index" is chosen (this removes custom column configuration, so is not a desirable action). This is new behavior in Thunderbird 3. I did not have this problem in Thunderbird 2.0.0.23 (or other previous versions). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Place one or more messages in a mail folder accessible via IMAP. 2. View the folder in Thunderbird. 3. Delete all of the messages in another email client. 4. View any other folder in Thunderbird and then view the original folder again. Actual Results: The original message list is still displayed which contains messages that no longer exist on the server. Expected Results: No messages should be shown. Get New Messages and Folder Compaction does not alleviate the issue, either. Selecting a message that no longer exists does not show the message body in the pane, so some of it is "gone". The message that no longer exists on the server can be deleted and purged to remove it from Thunderbird's view. My dovecot IMAP account is configured for "Just mark it as deleted" and my Exchange account is marked to Move it to the "Deleted Items" folder.
same problem as bug 462880?
(In reply to comment #1) > same problem as bug 462880? Yeah, I bet it is the same problem. I should really just take an hour and try to fix this.
