I am not sure how much this is related to cpu spiking bug 445261, but I see significant delays in numerous parts of firefox:
- switching from page focus to sliding scrollbar thumb, 5 seconds
- typing in a textbox or other input bug 492161
- right-clicking on a sf.net link (caused by slow Java applet?) and picking open in new tab, especially when you have multiple files downloading

perhaps it is the defrag process or VM kicking in. I don't know. I will have to defrag and find out if I get any performace gains.

Reproducible: Always

Actual Results:
delays, delays. makes user experience difficult.

Expected Results:
snappy all the time (except, of course, when Kaspersky Internet Security is scanning).
- 10-second delay after download dialog comes up before you can do anything.

I forgot to add that.

I recently discovered through another bug post that I was NOT in safe mode. I fixed my browser's shortcur so I will be in safe mode always, since everyone always asks me that question.

Jim, does this happen with firefox 3.6.3 or later?
- switching from page focus to sliding scrollbar thumb, 5 seconds
[no problem]
- typing in a textbox or other input bug 492161
[no problem]
- right-clicking on a sf.net link (caused by slow Java applet?) and picking
open in new tab, especially when you have multiple files downloading
[takes 5 seconds for a new page. if it's in the cache, it's immediate]

what may have been causing these problems was kaspersky antivirus. I have mcafee now. May have been the browser. that's all in the past now. I noticed Kaspersky would hang the machine for [up to 5 minutes or 5 seconds, can't remember - I think it was 5 minutes] a while and then let go of it for a few seconds.
