Selecting an own collection for an application different from the URL app will cause to open the add-on links from it to open the URL app page if it is compatible with the add-on.

I.e., you have addons.mozilla.org/firefox/, go to the collections page, select a Thunderbird collection, select an add-on (click for its details page) and land on the Firefox page of it (important if you want to look for compatibility).

I don't think collections are bound to apps (i.e., there's no such thing as a Thunderbird collection). But I'll CC fligtar who probably knows.

From an add-on detail page, you can add it only to some collections, not all, depending on the application of the collection (don't know where it is set).
