User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; fr; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091201 Firefox/3.5.6 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091204 Thunderbird/3.0 This problem happens only under Mac OS and with thunderbird. When Thunderbird is reduce to the dock: i.e no window is open, but the program is still running, opening a new window will trigger thunderbird to ask for the master password. (Firefox ask only once the master password and is not bothered by the reduction to the dock) This is very annoying for example of we want to quickly have a look to new mails, or if we are clicking on a mailto link to have to enter again a long/complicated master password (as it should be) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Start thunderbird with master password enabled 2.Enter your master password 3.Closed all window of thunderbird 4.Open a new window (with cmd + 1, or cmd + n for example), it will ask the master pass word again Actual Results: Ask for the master password. Apparently the issue is the consideration of reduction to the dock as a closing. Expected Results: I would have expected Thunderbird to ask master password only once when the application is running I've check in config editor for the line "security.ask_for_password" (set to 0 by default). If you set to 0,1 or 2 the issue is still the same. If you set to 2 (password have a lifetime, master password should be enter every n minutes) reducing to the dock have the effect of resetting the lifetime.
Already fixed for Thunderbird 3.0.1 by bug 534462.
