User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20091221 Firefox/3.5.7
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100105 Firefox/3.6

Customizing the toolbar, move the address bar or search box to the menu bar that will cause the menu bar hidden function no longer work.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a new profile to launch Firefox 3.6rc1 without any add-ons.
2. Right-click on Toolbar and choose "Customize...".
3. Drag the "address bar" or "search box" move to the menu bar, and click "Done".
4. Right-click on Toolbar, and uncheck the "Menu Bar".
5. Restart Firefox.
6.

Actual Results:
The menu bar is displayed.

Expected Results:
The menu bar should be hidden.

After restart Firefox, if right-click on toolbar, you will see the option "Menu Bar" is still unchecked. And, try to check or uncheck the option "Menu Bar" will not work.
Version: unspecified → 3.6 Branch
Confirmed with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.2pre) Gecko/20100106 Namoroka/3.6pre and latest trunk.
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
I also had this issue when trying to move buttons for an extension to the menu bar - it doesn't seem to be limited to just the address bar and the search bar. This seems to happen with all buttons I try to move to the bar. (However, it works fine with spaces and vertical bar.)
Bummer. I can confirm this bug. This is now preventing me from upgrading to 3.6, as I have *everything* on the menu bar, and use yuoo2k's autohide extension to auto hide/show it when mousing over the Window Title Bar.

yuoo2k's Hide Menu Bar extension does this perfectly in 3.5.x...
Depends on: 498852
Same issue occurs for me with Fx 3.6 on Vista Home Premium.
The menu bar auto hide function simply does not work after you restart the firefox. The menu bar will remain showed while the Menu Bar is unchecked. Re-check and re-uncheck the Menu Bar won't work. The only way to make it work again is to check the Menu Bar, restart the firefox, and then uncheck it again. Well, of course until you restart the firefox again then you have to redo those steps again.

My FIXES in css for TWO BUGS in autohide *CUSTOMIZED* MENUBAR in FF 3.6
  1st FIX (for 'main' bug)
     > related to: *customized* DOM atrribute
2nf FIX: for *another* bug in autohide *CUSTOMIZED* MENUBAR in FF 3.6, when you see the activated bar in 'half-height' (cutted-in-half) when *opening a new tab*:
     > related to: overflow css rule AFAIK
Hope to be useful, especially about the 2nd bug I mentioned.
I created an addon for applying my attached css file at https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/89458/
Sorry for my previous msg's uppercases.
Regards.
Excellent work Javier. Your add-on fixed the bug for me.
this isn't exactly a bug, but rather a planned feature.
since menubar is hiding before mouseup, buttons on autohiding menubar are not clickable,
to hide this problem "customized" attribute is set to menubar to not allow autohiding

but problem with unclickable buttons affects not customized menubars either
and if user tries to click on something when menubar is shown, collapsing menubar moves everything up destroying click
in addon https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/77337 toolbar.xml contains alternative binding for toolbar-menubar-autohide which works.

<sigh> it would really be nice if some FF developers would stop calling bugs 'features'...

> since menubar is hiding before mouseup

So, there's the bug, right? I mean, if the user chooses to show the menu bar, there must be a reason, right? Maybe that reason is to click on a button that they moved to the menu bar? If so, then *fix* it so that the menubar doesn't hide before mouseup - just please don't call it a 'feature'.

There are apparently three extensions not that fix it... thank god it is often fairly easy for non-devs to fix 'features' like this (and thank god that they are willing to do so!)...
> <sigh> it would really be nice if some FF developers would stop calling bugs

sorry, i just wanted to say that, it seems, this was made intentionally to hide other problem
and i am not a FF developer, but only a developer of that simple addon
Ok, sorry for the jab... and thanks for being one of those 'non-devs' willing to fix things like this... :)
Confirm on Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.5pre) Gecko/20100514 Ubuntu/10.04 (lucid) Namoroka/3.6.5pre
Seems fixed now? (I'm in v3.6.10)
Yes, fixed for me in 4b8pre.
