User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20091221 Firefox/3.5.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20091221 Firefox/3.5.7 Upper right hand quicksearch feature (where AMAZON, Wikipedia, Ebay can be selected) is frozen and only allows yahoo as the search engine. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.open firefox 2.select any other search engine in quicksearch box on upper right hand corner 3.although another choice is made, yahoo remains the search engine in firefox Actual Results: the quicksearch box retains yahoo search as the search engine. Expected Results: In the past, the search engine highlighted in the quicksearch box would be listed as the search engine but now it remains yahoo search. It should have allowed the highlighted (selected) search engine in the quicksearch box to become the search engine.
Please open in safe mode and let me know if it works. http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
I just came across this bug and was going to submit it but it seems somebody else has found it. However, what this bug report doesn't mention is that: 1. This behaviour only exhibits itself when fullscreen mode (F11) is turned on; running in normal mode yields no unusual behaviour. 2. The text needs to be highlighted then searched using the right-click menu. Instead of Yahoo being the unselectable search engine, in this case it is Google. Rearranging the entries to make a different engine #1 still keeps Google as the default entry, even after a restart of firefox. Tested on: x86 Win 7 Home, Intel CPU
Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3.6.13 or later in safe mode? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing. http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles You can also try to reproduce in Firefox 4 Beta 8 or later, there are many improvements in the new version, http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html

While I am not the original reporter I have tested this again, and can confirm that the bug is still present in FF 3.6.13. Both the normal operation of the browser and safe mode seem to be affected. Again, you must be in full-screen mode for this bug to be triggered, which occurs when using the right-click menu on some text. The option to perform a search using the selected text will be stuck on (presumably) the first installed quicksearch entry, regardless of which quicksearch entry is actually selected. The entry is changed both in the popup menu where it says, for instance, 'Search Google for "selected text"', and the actual result of clicking on that menu entry, which will bring up the appropriate google page instead of whatever the user wanted. Exiting out of fullscreen mode resumes normal right-click menu functionality. Hopefully this is easier to reproduce. x86 Win 7 Home, Intel T6500
No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.13 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
