If read an incoming mail (in the grouped view) in the general inbox of all mail accounts via the preview window (standard view), the mail is not marked as being read and the inbox of the specific mail account as well as the title of the general inbox are still in a bold font with a "1" in brackets.
Only by going to the specific mail account and reading the mail in that preview window, the mail is being marked as read as well as the titles are not bold anymore.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. receive a new mail in an IMAP-account
2. go to "Inbox" (in grouped view)
3. click once on the new mail, therefore it opens in the "preview"-window
Actual Results:  
The mail is not marked as being read, the inbox is shown has having unread mails and the inbox of the mail account, to which the mail was sent, is also marked as having unread mails

Expected Results:  
the mail should marked as being read as well as the inboxes

As far as I experienced it, the bug does not appear the same way with POP3-accounts. With POP3-accounts the mail is marked as read but the title "inbox" is still in bold letters - although the inbox of the specific account is not bold any longer.

I also see this bug in Fedora 12 x86_64.  Is there a fix anywhere for this?

do you still see this with v3.0.2 just released?

I can't reproduce using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.2.2pre) Gecko/20100223 Lanikai/3.1b1pre

what is specified for Reading at Options | Advanced | Reading & Display ?

I think you are using some alternate terminology which is not helpful...
grouped view = smart folders?
standard view = Classic view? or what is sometimes called 3-pane window?

I'm sorry for using different terms. I'm German and just translated the German terms in English.
Your mapping seems to be correct. (grouped view = smart folders, standard view = classic view)

But anyways, I also can't reproduce this bug any longer. It seems to be fixed.

G. my bad for not looking at your user agent. :)  Thanks for clarifying, and having filed the bug.

Since it "works for you", as bug author you should close this bug with resolution set to WORKSFORME (pick it after setting status to RESOLVED). Note: if someone later discovers what bug fixed this, it can be duped to the fixing bug. perhaps bug  524902?
