for imaging the Nokia N900, it looks like I am going to need a machine to host the pagesets and all optify'd software (python, python libraries). I would like to avoid using the buildbot master as I don't want to load it too heavily.

This machine will be used to rsync the files and will be hit for ~1gb by each device when it gets imaged and likely again on each boot. Ideally the machine would be running Linux, preferably fedora or centos. The machine would also need to be in the same network as the N900 pool and would ideally have a short hostname that doesn't need to be fully qualified on the n900s. a hostname of 'i' would be awesome (typing on an n900 sucks).
I'm assuming a VM (or possibly a mac mini) would suffice for this?
yep, either would work. Whatever is easiest should work for me.

is there any idea of when a machine would open up? I am getting to the stage where this is getting somewhat blocking me.

I used a mac mini and used the talos-rev2-linux image for this.

As discussed with Derek (mar 2), this machine was not accessible to the n900s on the RF room network. I am not sure what the current status of this is. I am marking this as a blocking bug because it is causing major headaches for testing the devices.
