firefox sets itself as the default browser when opening internet short cuts, even when another browser selected and set as default on opening short cut resets itself back as being the default with out asking to.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.click on internet short cut
2.browser opens page in firefox not the user set default
3.reset browser to users default
4.reclick on link browser opens page in firefox and has reset default to firefox without asking.
Actual Results:
browser set to firefox as the default with out asking permission
Expected Results:
Asked if user wanted to set default as firefox

Can you go into the default programs, set some other program as default, then try?
Version: unspecified → 3.5 Branch
Did that first before reporting, no matter which other browser set as default the moment I click on a link it reverts back to firefox

This bug has had the CLOSEME tag for several weeks and the date in the tag is far gone. If the reporter can still see this issue, Please retest with Firefox 3.6.x or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). Then please remove the closeme tag in the whiteboard, mark the bug against the proper version and comment on the bug.
