Description

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-GB; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100105 Firefox/3.6
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-GB; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100105 Firefox/3.6

My RSS feeds have simply stopped updating on my Mac running Snow Leopard (they must have refreshed in the past). This is doubly annoying because I have the feeds in folders off the bookmark bar, which with a multitouch pad you cannot right mouse on to ask them to reload manually.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Put some feeds in a folder in the bookmark bar.
Actual Results:
No refreshing. No way to bring up context menu using a trackpad that I can find.

Expected Results:
Two finger click to work on feed. Feed to automaticall refresh

The default refresh rate for RSS feed bookmarks is 1 hour. Did you wait that long? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.bookmarks.livemark_refresh_seconds

Ctrl + click should bring up the context menu.

Yep. Tried both already. Control click does nothing with a Multitouch pad on the menu. Also tried that setting, and it doesn't have any effect for me.

Does it work in Firefox's safe mode or a new profile? Both are outlined at http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Basic+troubleshooting

I'm seeing similar behavior in Thunderbird 3.0 on WinXP. Thunderbird is set to check for new entries at startup. Some feeds do get checked at startup and periodically, but some feeds do not. In particular, my xkcd.com feed (which is predictable) never gets new entries until I hit "Get Mail". The xkcd.com feed is also the last feed in the list -- I don't know if that's related.

Feeds used to happen occasionally in TBird 2, but now happens steadily in TBird 3.

My console shows a couple messages saying

Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80550006 [nsIMsgFolder.msgDatabase]" nsresult: "0x80550006 (<unknown>)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://messenger/content/mailWidgets.xml :: parseFolder :: line 2076" data: no]

But I don't know if it's directly related to the RSS problem.

I haven't yet confirmed it happens in safe mode or with a fresh profile.

uh, that didn't come out right. Should be "Feeds used to stop updating occasionally..."

Confirmed in safe mode.

Again, I'm seeing the "uncaught exception...line 2076.." message in the error console.

Wait, my apologies -- this bug's for Firefox and I'm talking about Thunderbird.
Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3.6.13 or later in safe mode? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing.

http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles

You can also try to reproduce in Firefox 4 Beta 8 or later, there are many improvements in the new version, http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html

I'm still unable to right mouse button using the a touch pad in 3.6.13, but the RSS lists are updating.

For the touchpad issue, have you tried updating your touchpad drivers?

I'm not sure how to beyond software update. I'm using a MacBookPro, so all the drivers are tied up in the OS. Basically Firefox on the mac is not responding to the two finger touch that should simulate a right mouse button.
Ah, didn't notice you were on a macbook, sorry. Try Firefox 4, I think that might work in it.
