Details
Steps to Reproduce:
-In the Quick Search field, select "Subject, From, or Recipient filter" (or any of the ones below it)
-While using one folder, type a string in the Search field. You will notice that the Message Pane is trimmed down to show a subset of the mail messages in that folder.
-Select a new folder.
Observed behavior:
-The Search field still contains your search string, though the Message Pane shows all messages in that folder. In other words, the UI indicates that some searching has taken place, but none has.
Expected behavior:
-The Search field should be blanked when changing folders. I would think that it would be sufficient to clear that field when changing folders.
Additional points:
-I'm using SSL/IMAP
-I run into this issue hourly. :-)

I assumed it was, but I was unable to find the current tracking bug. Help! :-)
