Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20091221 Firefox/3.5.7 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20091221 Firefox/3.5.7 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)
Request the addition of two new features to Personas:
(1) the ability to load transparent PNGs as a splash screen during browser initialization (see: existing add-on Splash!)
(2) custom graphic for the background page of an empty tab (see: existing add-on New Tab King)
Reproducible: Always
I think Personas developers would go APE for this.

Please only one request per bug.
Firefox does not use splash screens, Firefox should start in enough time that a splash screen is not needed bug 176573.

OK, KB, you've got a compelling rebuttal.
However, you're describing an ideal universe that does not exist.
In reality, Firefox *does* have a splash screen--for every user that voluntarily installed Splash!
Somebody out there wants this--isn't the question therefore: how many, and why?

Thanks for helping me see this was previously considered and found without merit... IN 2004!
But times change, and we've all got to just keep rollin' along. Six years later, Firefox is about much more than raw speed.
In that light: I submitted this request in the following context: there is a rumor that chrome is going to get smaller.
Someone recently asked in the themes, or the personas, list what that would mean for personas.
The question was effectively brushed away.
By providing persona-ble real estate on a splash and empty page background, one could make good on Mozilla's commitment to the Personas venue, rather than effectively trashing said commitment.
And if I have violated the terms by submitting two requests, let's replay the sematics game and rename this one request: "new real-estate opportunities for preserving Personas when chrome shrinks."

I agree with the concept of adding about:blank to the scope of personas.
However I don't think there's any reason to add the splash image - Splash! already has customization options, so we can just let the personas creator add a note in the description if they want to support it.
