When I type "quot" in the address bar, the first two results are:
http://quotes.burntelectrons.org/submit
http://quotes.burntelectrons.org/browse
When I type "e" to make "quote", these two URLs switch places. But then when I type "s" to make "quotes", they switch places again! This instability doesn't make sense to me, and makes me reluctant to hit down followed by enter.
For each of the three inputs, the two URLs match the same places in the URL and title, so it doesn't make sense for them to switch at all.

this is not bug 426166 since that was fixed before.
can you check if in your moz_inputhistory table you have entries for "quote" and "quotes" words? do you have a "quote" tag?

This issue still seems to be present, at least in Firefox 13.
For me, the order is unstable when I go from "goo" to "goog". I checked moz_inputhistory and found entries for "g"/"go"/"goo", but no entry for "goog".
