If a message is being sent and I change to another application, occasionally the send fails with a server error.  If I attempt to resend, it will go through with no problem.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Compose message
2. Send message
3. Change to another application before send is complete
Actual Results:  
Sometimes there is a server error and the mail cannot be sent, sometimes the mail is sent correctly.

Expected Results:  
Mail should be sent.

I noticed this issue in TB 2 as well.

So to summarize you have issues sending when thunderbird is in the background ?

Can you tell us what the exact error message is ?

When this happens can you look at the end of Tools -> Error console and see if there is any errors there ?

So it happens sometimes , is it often ? Are there other factors that being in the background that triggers the issue ?

You have summarized the issue correctly.

I am currently unable to reproduce - but I just updated to 3.0.1 beta.  Will comment if I can reproduce and will post the error message(s) as requested.

I'm not sure how often it would fail sending in the background.  It was often enough that I learned to keep TB in the foreground when sending large messages so that it wouldn't fail.  I'm not sure I understand the second part of the question re: other factors.

a timeout perhaps?
I don't know what fixed bug may have caused this to go away, but for now this is WFM per reporter. please reopen bug if yousee again
