User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20091221 Firefox/3.5.7
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20091221 Firefox/3.5.7
When more then 5 tabs are open Firefox consumes more then 1.5 GB of ram. It happens regardless of website types open in tabs. The issue becomes unbearable when when two windows are open with each window containing more then 10 tabs.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open Firefox and load 15 tabs
2.Open a new windows ion the new windows open 10 more tabs
3.Look at the memory leak
Actual Results:
836 MB used memory which is what windows reports but deeper systems scans show 2gb used by Firefox and associated processes.
Expected Results:
No web browser shall consume more then a 1 gb of ram even in extreme cases with pages containing java and ajax.
Please resolve the memory leaks I am running a core i7 system with ddr3 and 4 GB of ram and Firefox is eating my RAM making multitasking much harder.

Can you give the links to those webpages, give a list of plugins and their versions (go to about:plugins to get it), and then try creating a new profile and testing, http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+profiles
Severity: critical → major
Version: unspecified → 3.5 Branch
