weather.com recently changed their top line menu (moved "radar map" to the right side of the top line menu), and since then, their interactive weather map no longer displays properly when using Firefox as the browser. It still works fine in Safari.



Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Go to weather.com
2.select location
3.select "radar map" from top line menu
Actual Results:  
radar map page shows flattened box with no interactive map/radar video inside

Expected Results:  
should see interactive map/radar video  (like you do in Safari)

this could be the same bug as 505213, but there's not enough there for me to tell.

This works fine for me, on Windows at least. Have you also tested this in safe-mode / with a new profile?

And you are using the latest Flash version?

As far as I know, "safe-mode" is only for Windows - not Mac OS X. 

I installed (may have been a re-install) of Flash Player from the Adobe site - didn't change anything.

I learned something already:-) 

I tried the safe-mode. I reset recent history and disabled the single add-on that I was running (ad block - latest version). 

I then restarted Firefox (normal mode) and tried interactive weather again. This time I got the right sized box - but still no map or radar. I noticed that there was an alert in the box that said "This content requires the Adobe Flash Player.  Get Flash" so I quit Firefox and tried reinstalling Flash.

The install said it was good. I restarted Firefox, but still got the right size box, no map or radar, and the same alert. 

What now coach?

I've avoided UNIX for over 20 years, and now is a bit late to start. 

Since Mac came out with OS X, and I learned how the automatic maintenance routines work, I haven't had to do ANY reconfiguration of anything. 

Everything else to do based on the above advise involves resets or restores, and I'd like to avoid that.

I've sent feedback into weather.com, and am waiting a response.

If I do have to start resetting and restoring, any recommendations on where to start?

Started fresh this morning. Went to "tools" - "add-ons" - "plug-ins" and discovered that flash and others were still turned off. Turned them back on and the weather map works. 

Went "extensions" and turned on Adblock Plus 1.1.3, and the radar map quit working.

My conclusion is that the problem is with weather.com's software and Adblock.

Any other extensions I might want to download and install to block ads?

Should someone close this bug out?

What am I still cluelessly missing?

I don't know Safari but I guess it is not using the same profile as Firefox.
So the problem was that flash was disabled? Then you have not tried creating a new profile like I suggested. Every new profile starts with Flash enabled and without Adblock filter blocking the flash it would have worked, if I understand your comment correctly.

Resolving INVA (= not a bug in Firefox).
