When more than one message is selected, a very helpful summary of the messages is displayed. The font and size of this preview seem to be unchangeable.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select more than one message in a mailbox.

Actual Results:  
The appearance of the summary cannot be changed.

Expected Results:  
One of the preferences should control the font and size of the summary.

It is using the 'Proportional' font from (settings)->Display->Formatting->Fonts->Advanced... for me.

You are correct. However, there is still a separate but related problem, for which I have opened #541379. This is the reason I did not perceive a change at first when trying to alter this setting.
