User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20091221 Firefox/3.5.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20091221 Firefox/3.5.7 I used Latest Headlines to view a BBC article. Then after I finished reading, I cleared all history and closed Firefox. After I re-open it and go to Latest Headlines again, I can see BBC icon (black color) on the articles I read. Thus a person is able to see what articles I read, as they will have a BBC icon in the Latest Headlines. I also believe that clear recent history ==> everything, doesn't work properly, and that it still probably leaves some history even though we tell it to delete all. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. From Latest Headlines select any article to read. Wait till it finishes loading. 2. Close Tab/return to home. 3. Clear Recent History == > Everything ==> details ==> check all 4. Restart Firefox. 5. Go to Latest Headlines and you will see BBC icon on the article you read earlier. I also believe that clear recent history ==> everything, doesn't work properly, and that it still probably leaves some history even though we tell it to delete all.

fwiw, livemarks children are considered bookmarks, and it's not surprising to anyone that you could have visited one of your bookmarks. that said, no, it should not happen. Ensure you can reproduce in safe mode please, so that you don't have any add-on that could interact with Clear Recent History. Notice also that favicons are added 3 seconds later you visit the page, so if you clear history before this time it's possible it's being added back. So please try to reproduce waiting about 5 or 6 seconds after the page being loaded before clearing history.

I was able to reproduce this in Safe Mode. I closed Firefox. Then went to Start -- Programs -- and clicked Firefox Safemode. Then there was a checkbox dialog (i did not check anything as I did not want to change my settings when I go back to normal mode later). Ok so now my home page came. I selected a BBC article from Latest Headlines. I waited 1 minute (to make sure everything loaded because my AdBlockPlus is disabled in safemode). The Favicon came. Now I went to Home Page. I did Tools ==> Clear Recent History ==> Everything (in details I checked boxed everything). Went to Latest headlines to check if Favicon was still there. It was. Closed Firefox (safemode). Started normal Firefox, went to latest Headlines to check if Favicon was there on the article I read in safemode. It was. PS. As I said earlier I think the Clear History doesn't work on other sections either. But I can't prove it right now. (because I am sticking with 3.0.17 on my main computer)
Affects me too. Using Ubuntu Karmic Koala, Firefox 3.6 (ubuntuzilla, i.e. Mozilla binaries). Please change the platform to all.

Thanks Umang for more information. I changed platform to all. This bug doesn't occur in Firefox 3.0.17. It is confirmed for Firefox 3.5.7 & Firefox 3.6. I think the History coding was updated in Firefox 3.5 which was then carried on to 3.6.
Also, I think the title is misleading. I came across this bug when searching for another bug. When I realized that this affects me too, I posted here. Maybe something like "Favicon on Live Bookmark items not removed by 'Clear Recent History...'" Clear history might actually mean that the items in 'History' are not being cleared. Thanks
