After deleting any RSS feed I am unable to re-add it. I get the message that it already exists. Also some feeds to not update. When I add one it will update at the moment it add's itself but after it's added some of the feeds will not auto refresh.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Add a feed
2.Delete the feed
3. Try and add the exact feed again
Actual Results:
Get message saying that the FEED already exists

Expected Results:
That the feed will be added without problem

Thanks for your help!
I can't reproduce this problem on Windows Vista x86 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20100111 Lightning/1.0b1 Thunderbird/3.0.1 ThunderBrowse/3.2.8.1 ID:20100111101938). I've tried several different possibilities: restarting Thunderbird after adding the feed initially, then deleting and re-adding; closing the Feed Subscriptions dialog box between deleting the feed and re-adding; and just deleting the feed and immediately re-adding it.

I never got any error messages at all.

If you restart Thunderbird, are you able to reproduce this bug?

I can reproduce this bug. I think the reason might be the update from tb 2.x
I did not uninstall the old version but only do an update and since then I have this problem and now with tb 3.0.2 it is still there

Note that I didn't uninstall 2.x either (actually, my upgrade path was, I virtually guarantee, a *lot* messier than yours ;-)). However, that cuts no ice, and this may well be a subtle side-effect of upgrading.
Q: Did you both have RSS feeds before upgrading to 3.0.x?

Q: Have either of you been able to test all the permutations of deleting, restarting, and re-adding that I listed?

Yes, I did have 2 RSS feeds before upgrading

Yes. There was only one way for me, to add a deleted feed again. I had to delete it manually in (I think it was) feeds.rdf
But even then it did not refresh
This issue came up for me before I upgraded to 3.0 and Yes I have also tried both of the suggestions. With Blogs & News Feeds expanded---> I then choose one of my RSS feeds to delete--> I right click it and press delete. THEN I select/highlight Blogs & News Feeds and click on Manage Subscriptions---> Add--> I then enter the same feed I just deleted and I get ALERT You already have a subscription for this feed".

I can get this every time. What I have to do is close Thunderbird, restart and then I can add my feeds.

Thanks
Confirmed with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1.8) Gecko/20100227 Lightning/1.0b1 Thunderbird/3.0.3 ID:20100227143138.

New STR:
0. Make sure you have a News-and-Blogs-type account ("RSS") with at least one subscription; have the feed URL of that subscription available
1. Right-click the subfolder that contains that subscription and choose Delete
2. Choose Delete Folder
3. Right-click RSS and choose Subscribe…
4. Click Add and enter the feed URL
5. Click OK
Actual:
Pops up error message: "You already have a subscription for this feed." Disallows resubscribing to that feed until after restart.
Expected:
Feed to be successfully subscribed to and added to a new folder with the default name, probably the same as the one previously existing (but this is I think irrelevant).

Apparently, deleting the folder containing a feed subscription will only finish unsubscribing when Thunderbird restarts, unlike the other code path(s) for unsubscribing.
This bug doesn't appear to have anything to do with upgrading.
I think this bug may go in MailNews | Feed Reader, but OTOH it might be special code in TB that's causing all the trouble. So this needs more investigation.

Mat, this bug may not apply to you; you seem to have a slightly different set of symptoms (in particular being unable to re-add after restart). If you could recheck against the updated STR and troubleshooting steps, it'd help. (One bug seen by three people is better than one bug seen by two and another seen by only one. But we do want to make sure we know if it's a different bug.)

I encountered this bug as well, however I cannot reproduce it again. Also, I actually had to restart Thunderbird multiple times (thunderbird.exe did disappeared in the task manager, too)

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.9.1.9) Gecko/20100317 Lightning/1.0b1 Thunderbird/3.0.4
the several reasons for this have been fixed by patches that hit Tb12 (and some are in Tb11).
