User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20100111 Thunderbird/3.0.1 I wanted to switch from Outlook Express to Thunderbird 3.0.1. I let Thunderbird import everything. The results of the import looked encouraging, so I opened Account Settings to check the download settings of my 26 mail and 16 news accounts. Many of the mail accounts belong to my customers and I have them only for testing, with settings to leave mail on the server and to exclude from regular mail downloads. I didn't notice any problem until after I clicked OK to exit Account Settings. Now I have 20 mail and 15 news accounts. I am missing my two most important mail accounts. (I'm not sure whether they were there initially.) And the first problem I noticed, because I could see it on the left side of Thunderbird's main screen, is that the news account names are now mangled. The news accounts that use passwords have their names intact. The others have had their names changed. Previously, the account name was the same as the server name, as I set them up in Outlook Express. Now, the name has been changed to a concatenation of the following strings: - the user name of the previous password-protected account on the account list - the first n characters of the correct account name (which is the same as the server name in my case), where n is the number of letters in the user name of the previous password-protected account on the account list - the user name of the previous password-protected account, again - the remainder of the correct account name (same as the server name in my case) - the user name of the previous password-protected account, for the third time I'm worried now about what other kinds of corruption may have occurred out of sight. I'm very disappointed, but this has halted my planned move to Thunderbird. Reproducible: Didn't try

I actually just saw a very similar problem, so tentatively confirming. Specifically, I added a STARTTLS-secured, password-protected POP3 account to my existing profile of IMAP and NNTP accounts. After restarting once or twice, the first newsgroup account was mangled in the way you describe, containing text from the POP3 account, which was nowhere to be seen. (This is in Smart Folders.) This is a weird bug.

Hmmm... what's the prefs.js for the account?
I tried to reproduce this in the profile I'd originally used (from which I'd already removed the POP3 account), but failed. I tried again with another profile, but wasn't able to reproduce it there. I think this requires complicated setup steps, at least in my case, and the order of account adds and subscriptions may well be important.

Matt, Anje, have you ever seen reports of this?

I've never encountered anything prior to reading this report.

Sorry it has taken so long to get here, but my input is negative anyway. I have never heard of anything similar.

I recall Chris mentioning he had folders do weird things, but I think they just disappeared about TB11. Seen or heard anything similar Chris?

Hmm, no, can't recall seeing this.
