dupe of bug 526220?
(In reply to comment #2) > dupe of bug 526220? A shows black then works does not seem to me to be dupe of stays black forever and does not run at all.
This is a regression caused by the check-in for bug 473398 and/or the subsequent bugfix checkins it produced. I never reported a bug at the time, but probably should have. The color black here makes no sense. It should probably either be displaying a transparent background or the default browser background color and not black.

I hate to say it, but there is precisely nothing I can do with this bug unless someone can produce a test case using Flash, or better, the test plugin. I have spent DAYS trying to get the Java plugin to work for me AT ALL, and I have never had the slightest bit of success.
Is this Windows-only or does it also happen on other platforms?
(In reply to comment #7) > Is this Windows-only or does it also happen on other platforms? The black color seems to be windows only. Under Linux, it seems to be gray similar to the chrome background color. I would have expected it to be white in this case, which is the content area background color.
This issue is most important for me. My application is using applets intensively and the initial black rectangle is very annoying. Even if it shows up only a fraction of a second it makes using firefox for the application near to impossible. Is there anything I can do to speed up fixing it? Zack Weinberg asked for the applet itself, while other commentors seem to be able to reproduce the issue and even to track it down to bug 473398. So my question is: Would it be of help, if I provide an applet class or jar in conjunction with an HTML page using the applet or would that be counter productive, since everyone is able to reproduce the issue and I add confusion?
Bug appears fixed in Firefox 4 (Windows)
If it's still a problem in 3.6 there is probably nothing we can do, that branch is on life support and is only get security fixes. If this bug is fixed in 4 (and assuming above), then it is fixed. If there is still a problem please reopen.
