User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; de; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; de; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6 After installing KB977074 on Windows 7, Firefox loads the sites VERY SLOW. This happens with every site. After the windows update was uninstalled, Firefox runs again with "reasonable speed". Reproducible: Always
WFM with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.3a1pre) Gecko/20100130 Minefield/3.7a1pre (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) ID:20100130043817/ Please test with firefox safe mode. http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode

That's weird that FireFox is slow after updating on a Windows 7 Machine. Is their aything wrong with maybe how the update gets handed on Windows 7? I am on a Windows XP so I don't know why Windows 7 could be different, but that is strange.
Maybe I should put the BK article here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/977074 Nothing in this update even touches anything I see that would affect firefox. so, I would suggest the standard firefox troubleshooting steps. As I said, I can't see this with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.3a1pre) Gecko/20100130 Minefield/3.7a1pre (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) ID:20100130043817, which has 977074 applied to it.
So if it's not FireFox that's the problem I guess just the best thing to do is to do go through the troubleshooting steps for getting FireFox 3.6 Updated and see that is running with faster speed than before or at least close to that.
I have just installed the KB again (after I removed it from the update list) and Firefox ran slow again. (up to 1 minute to load google, also in safe mode) I followed the troubleshooting list: I removed the cache & cookies -> same story But the firefox process was not closed after I closed Firefox (X) - I had to terminate the process manually in the task manager each time I want to restart Firefox. Rebooting the system did help finally. Now I'm writing this in firefox. :) Hope this helps.
Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3.6.13 or later in safe mode? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing. http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles You can also try to reproduce in Firefox 4 Beta 8 or later, there are many improvements in the new version, http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html
