User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6

The save dialog box does not appear on the desktop, and you are unable to save any files because of this. The window listing does appear in the "Window" menu in the toolbar. When the save dialog box is supposed to come up, the only menu that appears in the menu bar is the "Firefox" one. To force Firefox out of this, you can click anywhere on another open FF window. The download is impossible to get started.

I have disabled all plugins and addons, so it's probably not an incompatibility with them.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Click on a link to a download a file (any file type)
2.When the Save dialog box is supposed to pop up, the menu bar is reduced to "Firefox" only
3.You are unable to confirm the dialog box to save the file to the predetermined location.
Actual Results:
The save dialog box is missing, you are unable to confirm and click "Save" to save a file, and the menu bar disappears.

Expected Results:
Popped up the Save dialog box
Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3.6.13 or later in safe mode? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing.

You can also try to reproduce in Firefox 4 Beta 8 or later, there are many improvements in the new version, http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html
Whiteboard: [CLOSEME 2011-1-30]
I have found that if you delete the: localstore.rdf file from your Profiles folder, the bug is fixed. The only other point to report, is that this problem keeps returning, but with the workaround, I am able to get everything back to working shape. In safe mode, the problem would correct itself, but would return back in normal mode.

I have yet to try this in Firefox 4 Beta 8 or 9, since I have yet to encounter this issue in those builds. Thank you again for your help
No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.13 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
