Apple does not allow the 64bit kernel to run on anything that doesn't have the 'Pro' moniker. After verifying this is still the case with the new minis, we need to decide if we
a)have one 10.6 pool that is big enough to handle 32+64 bit builds, both on the 32-bit kernel
b)use hacked boot process using a random efi boot image (http://netkas.org/?p=189) to force the 64bit kernel c)we get different hardware that is 'pro' (mac pro, macbook pro or xserve) which doesn't follow with our common hardware platform goal.
Option a seems to be the most appropriate given that all non-xserve macs (http://blog.fosketts.net/2009/08/30/64bit-snow-leopard-kernel/) will boot with the 32bit kernel by default and require specific user modification to boot into the 64bit kernel. The 64bit kernel also only works on fairly recent pro models (2008+)
Assigning to joduinn to figure out what course of action we are going to take.
