User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6 When I close Firefox, the firefox.exe process continues to run, as can be seen in Task Manager under Processes. When I try to open Firefox again, it gives me the error message, "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system." To fix this, I have to go into Task Manager and end the firefox.exe process if I want to open Firefox again. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Close Firefox. 2. Double-click on desktop shortcut to start it again. Actual Results: I get the error message (mentioned above) that the process is still running. Expected Results: Firefox opens again normally, like it would if the process were not already running. Could be related to 32-bit vs. 64-bit (I run 64-bit Windows 7 but am using 32-bit Firefox).
Do you have ghostery installed? That has been causing this. Otherwise, try running in firefox safe mode http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode
Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3.6.13 or later in safe mode? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing. http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles You can also try to reproduce in Firefox 4 Beta 8 or later, there are many improvements in the new version, http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html

I am using Firefox 3.6.13 and haven't seen this issue in a long time (wow this was a year ago?!). Yes, I do use Ghostery and I think it was them because they had an update and the issue went away.
