The info you copied/pasted from the "details" button in the crash reporter window doesn't really tell us anything. Please post the corresponding crash ID:
https://developer.mozilla.org/en/How_to_get_a_stacktrace_for_a_bug_report
Good chance it's a Flash plugin crash, in which case I suggest you update to latest Flash 10 if you haven't already:

Please give the exact firefox version you are using as well, and update to firefox 3.6 is you haven't already.
Keywords: crash
Thanks, I've updated to the latest version of Flash. We'll see if it happens again.
Updating to Firefox 3.6 is not an option right now, as it is not compatible with the Undo Tabs plugin, my main reason for using Firefox.

Please also post your crash ID(s) for this as requested. If you post the crash ID for this I'll be able to tell you if it's Flash's fault as I suspect.

There are plenty of extensions to do that sort of thing, so I'm sure you can find a similar (or better) one that supports Firefox 3.6, or at far least 3.5.x. Comment 0 says you're still using 3.0.17, so you should at least upgrade to 3.5.7. Essentially every extension that is ever going to be updated for 3.5.x has been by now.
Where do I download Firefox 3.5 from? All the links (including the ones at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3.5/releasenotes/) seem to point to 3.6.
Thanks.
What is the crash ID? I try sending an email notification to mozilla with every crash, but every time I get an error message in the end.

Read the article I posted a link to in comment 1.

What error message are you getting?
Ok, the crash ID is 3bbb53d5-d45f-495f-a920-7d9262100129
I'm surprised this report went through on 1/29, as I almost always get an error message from the Mozilla Crash Reporter notifying me that the report didn't go through.
I got a notification in the browser to update to version 3.5.7 but it's still not compatible with Undo Closed Tabs Button 3.0.3
The link at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html directs me to "Firefox Setup 3.5.7.exe".
Comment 10•15 years ago

3.0.3 is a very ancient version of that extension. It is now 3.6.2.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3082 Download firefox 3.6, then download and install the new extension.

Thanks for the info, I will update to the new versions.
How come though the Firefox Add-on app can't find the new update for Undo Closed Tabs Button?

Of course. I don't understand what you mean by this comment. That's the page to download Firefox 3.5.7.

3.0.3 is the last version of that addon that supports Firefox 3.0. If you're in Firefox 3.0, clearly it's not going to give you an update that's not compatible.

This crash isn't Flash and my guess is it wouldn't apply to Firefox 3.5+ seeing as you'll be using the newer JavaScript engine.

So it was a JavaScript issue then?
I've installed 3.6 and after updating the add-ons I still have a bunch of them not compatible. Of these, the ones I'm using the most are : CustomizeGoogle 0.76, Next Tab 0.2.3, and Private Browsing 1.2.9. Any idea if there will be any updates for these?
Thanks.
Comment 14•15 years ago
|
||
In firefox 3.6 you don't need the private browsing extension because it is
built in since 3.5. for the other ones, you will have to contact the developers
of those extensions asking if they have plans for updates in the works. We
don't manage their addons for them.
WFM since this looks like it shouldn't be happening in 3.6 anymore. Please
reopen if you get the exact same crash again.

Will do. Thanks for all your help.

CustomizeGoogle is abandoned; don't expect an update. If all you want is the infinitely scrolling pages, I suggest using AutoPager instead. (it's better at it anyway) There's also OptimizeGoogle 0.77, which appears to be a revival of CustomizeGoogle by another developer, though I haven't tried that one as AutoPager is all I need.

Great, thanks for your help. Next Tab seems to actually work, it only looks differently on the screen. I'll give AutoPager a try. Cheers!

It happened again: crash ID 0288302d-a09b-45d0-8a40-5c9fd5c90e50. Now it looks like the problem is with the Java engine?

I installed the latest Java update, v.6.18, hopefully this will do.
Comment 20•15 years ago

1) Why do you say it has something to do with Java? The crash report you posted in comment 18 doesn't seem to want to load, so if you have a better one then please post that.
2) If you are having Java problems, that's not the problem above, so you need to file a new bug for it. (and the Java plugin crashing may be something to report to the developer of the Java plugin) Don't re-open bugs for unrelated issues; one bug per bug report please.

The error message said something about firefox encountering a problem and needing to restart because of a file that seemed to be using java.
Comment 22•15 years ago
|
||
Well, java and javascript are two totally different things. Please create a new bug if you continue to see java issues.

No idea what is causing it, bad stack. Maybe you should try going to support.mozilla.com and asking for help there.

Those crash reports are all useless. Please, stop spamming this report, which is no longer valid. Go to support.mozilla.com and ask them for help in narrowing down the cause, then open a new bug (don't use this one) for the crashes.

Firefox keeps crashing and each time I get an error message saying "There was a problem submitting your report." I posted a crash ID on support.mozilla.com but no one acknowledged it. This is getting really annoying, and I find myself using Chrome more and more frequently.
