User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; nl; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20091221 Firefox/3.5.7
Build Identifier: Firefox/3.6
The descibed website is an electronic learning environment for schools called 'N@tschool'. When the website is contacted, first some login and password data shall be provided. In 3.5.7 this works ok, but the upgrade to 3.6 keeps on displaying the progress information. You can try this with Microsoft IE 5.1.7 which shows the same problem. The progress information says : Please be patient.. etc. etc. A picture can be provided if this helps. In a good working environment is also displayed very briefly. In 3.6 the status bar reports that the operation is finished but clearly is not. After detecting this problem it was tested on 3.5.7 which worked fine. Then 3.6 was downgraded to 3.5.7.. and everything was fine again.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.use firefox 3.6
2.start http://elo.roc-teraa.nl
3.info message: 'please be patient..'
4.stays there..
Actual Results:
a message is displayed
Expected Results:
a login window should be displayed

Dick -> Can you contact the website owner(s) or developer(s) and see if they can look into these errors? It looks like the issue may be with the website (may need to be updated to support the latest Firefox versions) and not Firefox itself. (Sites doesn't work with Safari or Chrome)

The site appears to have changed (I know get a pop-up about an about:config setting an extension install). Has this resolved the issue?

Sorry for the extermely late answer, there are reasons for this..
The bug still remains. Just today I used the last update of Firefox 3.5 and I did not get the logon window. This is the same problem as experienced with 3.6. So, I installed the version 4 beta, but this als has the same problem. Now I am using MS IE in a VMware/windows XP environment on my Macintosh. This is a unpreferable way of working, but that's the way it is.
A student of mine uses this set up on his Mac as well due to the same problems. Personally I think the electronic learning enviroment used in this school is of poor quality. Other browser like Safari and Chrome also experience problems. This could be a 'selling' feature for Firefox though.:-)
If you need more info from the tool developer, please let me know. It is called N@tschool and is built by Three Ships software.

Did you make the change in about:config that is mentioned in the pop-up? (I can't read it...)

When first loading the site (Win7, FF 3.6.12) it tells me the Three Ships Firefox extension should be installed.
Google gave me some info on that extension:
http://thim.natschool.com/xprog/PluginExtensionDescription.1033.0.htm
Note that this extension is not distributed through addons.mozilla.org
Does the site work using that extension?
