Similar to bug 509978, we would like a planet instance set up that allows people to track all of the Firefox UX work going on. Currently just need to get 4 feeds aggregated: Limi: http://feeds.limi.net/on-firefox Boriss: http://jboriss.wordpress.com/feed/ Horlander: http://blog.stephenhorlander.com/feed/ Faaborg: http://blog.mozilla.com/faaborg/feed/
perhaps get some test pilot posts syndicated in? (would need to ask Jono and Jingua to add a tag)
Ok, I've done the necessary work on my side for this. Steps for IT: * Create symlink under planet/trunk/themes/ for "moz_firefox_ux" that points to planet/branches/firefox-ux/theme (see existing symlinks and follow same pattern) * Add "firefox-ux" to planet.sh script (there's a list of planets in the script) * Redirect http://ux.firefox.com to http://planet.firefox.com/ux/ * Redirect http://firefox.com/ux to http://planet.firefox.com/ux/ * Grant faaborg@mozilla.com rw access to /projects/planet/branches/firefox-ux/ in svn's authz (he already has svn access for other stuff, so this should just be an addition to authz only)
(In reply to comment #2) > perhaps get some test pilot posts syndicated in? (would need to ask Jono and > Jingua to add a tag) CCing them to see if they're interested (I absolutely think that Test Pilot should be on Planet UX :) As Faaborg suggested, probably useful to add a tag, since Jono (at least) blogs about things that aren't related to UI every now and then too. :)
(In reply to comment #3) Oh, I forgot one important step: * Create /data/static/www/planet.firefox.com/ux/ (just mkdir)

All done! Faaborg, please feel free to add the feeds you need to this one :)

(In reply to comment #3) > * Redirect http://firefox.com/ux to http://planet.firefox.com/ux/ Doesn't look like this was done, or at least it doesn't work for me.

It wasn't and I don't see why it should be done.

(In reply to comment #8) > It wasn't and I don't see why it should be done. That part of the request came directly from faaborg, so I'll defer to him on it.
> * Redirect http://firefox.com/ux to http://planet.firefox.com/ux/ Doesn't look like this was done, or at least it doesn't work for me. Just having ux.firefox.com is ok, but since firefox.com/ux doesn't current map to anything, I figured it would be better to redirect it as well (in case someone only partially remembers a URL they were told, etc.)
Also, do we have access to modify the Planet template? Happy to do some quick updates, but I don't know which server to connect to. :)

Right now, Faaborg does. Reed should have more information about templates etc. IT just handles the setup side of things :)
I assume I check out: https://svn.mozilla.org/projects/planet/branches/firefox-ux/ Do I have permissions to commit? I can't seem to succeed with this, but I might have fat-fingered my password. Also, do changes get deployed automatically, or do we have to trigger manually if we make changes?
Like I said, right now it's only Faaborg. I'll add you in as well. Changes will go in automatically.
Limi, You don't have an SVN account and that is out of the scope of this bug, you'll have to file a separate bug for that and to get access to svn.m.o
Added my public key at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=538695#c4 I assume you can close this bug unless the permissions are granular enough that I won't have access to Planet UX once access has been granted.
(In reply to comment #10) > to anything, I figured it would be better to redirect it as well (in case > someone only partially remembers a URL they were told, etc.) firefox.com/ux is setup, have fun! :D

There's some problems layout-wise with this site now... for instance, section titles seem to be centered by default, and the spacing is exaggerated. Should we update the Planet template via Faaborg's checkins?
Yes or talk to the Planet folks if they have better suggestions.
Boriss, I just checked in a chunk of fixes, should be better as soon as it updates (not sure how often it syncs).
