CC'ing Liz for direction on what to update. Does this include the Firebug logo and/or wordmark or would this just be an addition in the Other registered trademarks list?

I'll take a look and get back to you.

Just wanted to follow up to see if we should add the Firebug logo or not.

Mozilla has filed a trademark application for the word mark Firebug. It has not been registered yet. We did this on behalf of the Firebug team and will transfer the trademark to them if they form some type of entity. Firebug isn't really a Mozilla product, we just provide some support to them, like hosting the Firebug website. Given the independent nature of the Firebug project I'm not sure we want to add either Firebug or the Firebug logo to the Mozilla trademark list. I'm adding Harvey to see what he thinks and, depending on what he says, we might check with John Barton.

I tend to think the trademark list should actually list all trademarks Mozilla has registered. If a trademark moves to another organization (as the Firebug one might), then it can be removed. But ultimately, what's the harm in being complete and accurate? (fwiw, there are quite a few teams that are "provide[d] some support" and don't produce what can be called "Mozilla products" just use Mozilla technologies. On the current list, Camino, Bugzilla, and SeaMonkey come to mind. And of those three, Bugzilla doesn't even use Mozilla technologies.)

Closing old Mozilla.org website bugs due to them not being relevant to the new Python-based Bedrock system. Re-open if this is a critical bug and should be resolved on the new system too.

Why would we want to re-open this bug is Harvey, Mozilla's general legal council, has said we are not adding it due to legal reasons? If you still have questions, please contact Harvey directly.

Did you read my comment 6? Harvey's (or rather Liz's) rationale doesn't hold up with the other trademarks on the list. Heck, even Minimo is listed on the trademark list and it's a product that will never exist again! (Unless dougt goes crazy and desperately wants to resurrect it.) But you're right, I'll address Harvey, though not "directly" since any non-sensitive discussion about this bug should happen in this bug (as is common for Bugzilla). Harvey, can you please respond to my comment 6? It seems like the rationale from comment 4 doesn't hold up based on the current trademark list. I'd like you to talk more about it.

Samuel - You may well be right. Harvey and I are both really busy right now, so I hope you'll be patient and post a reminder in about a month when hopefully one of us can take the time to think this through and provide an updated response. Would you do that?

Hi all. After putting this off for a very long time, I thought I'd check in and see what others feel is the right approach to take with respect to trademarks that Mozilla has registered or applied to register on behalf of Mozilla affiliated projects that aren't MoCo products. Maybe we should list all of them. What do you think?

I believe the page should list all trademarks held by Mozilla.

Liz, can you confirm that this should be listed as Firebug® (with the R as opposed to the TM)?
