User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.04506.648; .NET CLR 3.5.21022; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) My Firefox browser will not resolve this URL: www.hillbillyhomecompanion.dynalias.com. It will resolve this one: www.hillbillyhomecompanion.com. First one uses DynDNS name servers. Second one uses 1&1 Internet name servers. Firefox will also display the page if I enter the IP address. IE will resolve either, Chrome will resolve either. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Type www.hillbillyhomecompanion.dynalias.com in the address bar. 2.Hit Go or Return or however you do it. 3. Actual Results: Server not found Firefox can't find the server at www.hillbillyhomecompanion.dynalias.com. Expected Results: I expected to see my home page. I know the server was up because I'm sitting next to it. I have contacted DynDNS tech support. No luck. I thought that you would like to know that Firefox is not resolving URL's via DynDNS name servers. This is probably not even a bug with Firefox but something external.
None of the browsers I tried (Opera, Google Chrome, IE8) can find the server at www.hillbillyhomecompanion.dynalias.com
It's hillbillyhomecompanion.dynalias.com , no www in front.
I am unable to get either to resolve, with any browser - http://hillbillyhomecompanion.dynalias.com and www.hillbillyhomecompanion.com. Sounds like this is a site issue and not a FF issue
You are correct. When you tried, it was a site issue because the server was offline. The site is new and often down while it is under development. I will leave it alone and running for you so you can try again. I have been able to resolve visit that site from my desktop at work. I just checked and the problem still exists. It is not real important to me that the dynalias url works but I thought you might be interested. I am interested but mostly because I am curious.
When I use the windows ping utility to ping www.hillbillyhomecompanion.dynalias.com, it can't find the server either. http://hillbillyhomecompanion.dynalias.com/ resolves though.
In addition, neither Safari, nor Opera will resolve the .dynalias.com address. Only IE7 and Chrome.
Well, if safari and opera are showing this, doesn't seem like out problem.
