There should be an opensearch plugin for getpersonas.com.

v.1 Add basic opensearch.xml

I wasn't able to test for non en-US locales yet.

We also need to add an alias or redirect for favicon.ico if we want a favicon to be displayed for the search engine before it is installed.
Alias /favicon.ico /Users/.../trunk/static/img/favicon.ico

v.1 Add basic opensearch.xml

Looks good, just add the new Aliases to server/localhttpd-dist.conf

Added alias for opensearch.xml:
AliasMatch /([a-zA-Z-]+/)?opensearch.xml /path/to/personas/server/opensearch.php
Committed patches in r70901

Depends on server changes in bug 580371 to appear on staging.
Depends on: 580371
Working on staging in Firefox and IE 8 but the icon is not used in IE. I will need to use the .ico format icon for it to show in IE. I will submit a patch soon with the fix.

One idea I had for a potential follow-up was to add a query parameter to the URL to identify the source of the search for analytics purposes.

You can commit something tiny like that without a patch.

Good idea! Let's use 'f=opensearch'
