User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.5b4pre Build Identifier: (TB 3.0.1 release as downloaded - language: de) I have installed TB on a new machine. It is now synchronising the IMAP account. I get messages like "Downloading message 2512 of 1341 in folder xyz" all the time. This is irritating. Reproducible: Always Actual Results: x >> y Expected Results: Probably y is not the real number and should be larger.
Jens can you try to find the duplicate please ?

Only thing I can think of is bug 528608, but that one is about indexing. This one is about downloading.
Ah, and the effects differ. There, y keeps going up, and x<y, here y apparently stays the same and x>y.
I have the same problem. Using ubuntu dev 10.04. Its always the Sent folder for me and Y is constant but X goes 3x higher and it does it continuously again and again and again. I'm going to get banned from the imap server if it keeps hitting it all day.
Ok now its doing it to all my sent folders. This is ridiculous. I'm going back to thunderbird-2. This bug is definitely confirmed. And when i try to sync or rebuild index, all the messages just become blank.
(In reply to comment #4) > Using ubuntu dev 10.04. > Its always the Sent folder for me and Y is constant but X goes 3x higher > and it does it continuously again and again and again. cxo, what is offline-store file size for Sent? (Sent instead of Sent.msf)? If you are big mail attachment lover, total data size easily exceeds size limit(2GB on Linux. 4MB*512=2GB). If file size exceeds limit, offset value can wrap, then downloaded mail data can not be found in offline-store, thus download of same mail data can happens again. See Bug 532323, bug 537498.
Jens, perhaps comment 6 also applies to you? If not, do you still see this problem in v3.1 beta? final beta is at http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/early_releases/downloads/
I tried with 1044 messages now and it worked (maximum was correctly shown). I have no idea any more how to trigger this. cxo might have had a different bug? I definitely did not reach 2 GB for one folder ... Maybe 100 MB.
=> WFM then, at least for purposes of your report. cxo will need to look elsewhere if still has a problem

I don't understand where this MB and GB metrics are coming from. From what I understand this bug report is about the mail download manager being stuck indefinitely downloading something. I don't have the same mail box setup to retest with v3.1 but I'm using a similar configuration (but with considerably fewer messages) with v3.0.4 without problems.
No. I didn't say anything about "indefinitely".
