User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091216 Fedora/3.5.6-1.fc11 Firefox/3.5.6 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20100120 Fedora/3.0.1-1.fc11 Thunderbird/3.0.1 It is a hassle to continually have to click on the "Show Remote Content" button to see graphics and other features. I don't need that security feature, and I don't find a way to turn it off. May Windows users need it, but us Linux users don't. Please provide a setup option to disable it. Reproducible: Always
This is not so much a security feature as a privacy one: spammers, legitimate marketers, etc can send messages with so-called "pixel tags" (tiny images retrieved with a unique URL) that determine whether you opened the message or not. Unless Linux has a superpower that I am presently unaware of, this applies equally to all operating systems. However, if you do want to disable this, setting mailnews.message_display.disable_remote_image to false will do what you want (Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> General -> Config Editor…, then filter on `remote` and toggle the given pref). Resolving WFM accordingly.
