Your page https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ is not working,Give it a test,default profile,install an old java,old adobe,old flash,it will not detect them,it will tell you that you have the correct version..You will need to fix this or at last tell the page is incomplete.

It uses the same information as shown on about:plugins (or in the Tools->Add Ons dialog box). If that detects a correct version, then it should have found it somewhere.

about:plugins by default doesn't print the full path of the plugin (see bug 458559 for an improvement). If you set the variable plugin.expose_full_path first to true (in about:config), you can see the location of the plugin. It will NOT always be C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins !

Now, compare those filenames with the one where you think your plugin is located.

Your report seem to indicate that you're still loading the correct plugin, even though you have installed the incorrect one. about:plugins can show you which one is really loaded.

If you discover that Firefox is really loading that incorrect plugin, but doesn't detect it as being an old version, then you have a bug. But then we need much more data than you provide here.

But I would be *really* surprised that the plugin-version is misread, I'm now assuming that you have 2 plugins installed, a correct one and an incorrect one. In your case, the good one is loaded, but there might be people with the opposite result. I have experienced it myself - when trying to upgrade a plugin, had to uninstall a plugin, then visit about:plugins to see if it really was unloaded (and it turned out to be still installed). Some people also had 6 versions of the java-console plugin installed at the same time for instance.

And with plugin.expose_full_path set to true, you will see the full path. In my case :

Shockwave Flash

    File: C:\WINNT\system32\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32.dll

If you claim that you have another plugin, please check where it's located. If it's also in C:\WINNT\system32\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32.dll , and you're *very* sure that it's a different version (you can see the properties in File Explorer, with a right click), there would be a bug. But again, I suspect that you have 2 different plugins (probably both located in C:\WINNT\system32\Macromed\Flash\), or you still have the correct version after all.

Fixing people's computer is what i do,and i tell you i have made a verification of site https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ from different computers and it's not working,it will not tell you that you java is old,adobe or something else,except MetaStream 3 Plugin

You keep reporting that Firefox is using Flash version 10.0.45.2 - but why is this incorrect ? As far as I know, it's the latest one. Do you think it should report a different version (comment 1) ? If so, you should say *that*, and telling us where this incorrect version is installed. It's definitely possible that there is a second version, but not in the C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\ at least. And if you're trying to install an old version, shouldn't you uninstall the newer version first ? Currently, Firefox is always find the correct version (using the registry I think).

Oh by the way - do you realize that Internet Explorer uses a DIFFERENT version of the Flash plugin (an Active X one) - that's the Flash10a.ocx file that you see (which is apparently older). If you run the installer from IE, it only installs the Active X one. If you do it from Firefox, only the dll one. And the installers are named the same, which is confusing, I fell for that too. And Firefox checks only the dll one ofcourse, so it can't be used to check if IE is also using the correct plugin.

The problem is that if you install an old version of flush for example,and then check with https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ they will tell you that you are update ,this is the problem,it will not tell you that a new version is available ,this is what i want to say ,there is a bug somewhere , i don't use IE and all the computer i fix i remove it,and install firefox ,i only check with firefox.

You keep claiming that you have an old version of Flash. Are you sure ? How do you know ? You *really* have the latest version of Flash installed !

From comment 8 I can see that the Active X version is indeed an old one (which plugincheck will not tell you, since Firefox doesn't use Active X), but I still haven't seen that you really have an old version of NPSWF32.dll, unless it's in a different location (not used by Firefox anyway).

I did not told you that i have an old version installed,i told you that if you have an old version installed the page will not tell you that you have a old version,it will detect the right version i think but it will not tell you that it's not the latest,this is what i want to say,i know i`m having the latest version. Install an old java and go to page and you will see that it will detect the version but it will not tell you a new version is available,now do you know what i mean?

Mozilla is maintaining that page, but can't keep track of every little change in all the different versions. It will only complain if there's a security problem, and Mozilla has been notified that a particular version needs to be upgraded (mentioned in security advisories, etc ...). My Flash 10.0 r42 might not be the latest (your r45 apparently is), but isn't a security risk, so I'm told that it's up-to-date. The last time I was upgraded I had 10.0 r38 I think, and there was a good reason to upgrade to r42.

Firefox is not the Update Check for the entire Internet.

On that plugincheck page, there's a link called "If you have plugin information we don't have, please let us know.". That will be used by the vendors to notify Mozilla. If you go to that page, you see that there's a difference between "Latest version" and "Latest secure version". And a special field for the "Vulnerable versions".
