546163 - Firefox takes much CPU time with add-on ClickCutter AutoCopy 1.2.1

When ClickCutter AutoCopy 1.2.1 is installed, Firefox takes much CPU time after a series of text copy. As the ClickCutter AutoCopy developer can't reproduce the problem, it isn't clear whether this is a Firefox bug or ClickCutter AutoCopy bug. Firefox may be to blame on the non-deterministic behavior. Could other users test (see below steps to reproduce) and report their build identifier and what they get concerning the CPU usage?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Quit Firefox and remove the current profile.
2. Start Firefox.
3. Install ClickCutter AutoCopy:
   https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/14077
4. Restart Firefox.
5. Select some text *slowly* with the mouse, meaning that a small red "C" in a circle will appear from time to time (copy operation by ClickCutter AutoCopy). This way, make a "C" appear about 20 times, then release the mouse button.
Actual Results:  
The top command (or htop, or equivalent) shows that the firefox-bin process constantly takes about 50% CPU time.

Expected Results:  
The firefox-bin process shouldn't take any CPU time (or very little).

Note: in practice, this also makes Firefox become very slow after some time.

This should be done on the developer's website, not bugzilla. If the developer can't see the problem, sounds like something related to your profile. Try creating a new one, then installing the addon and testing. If the developer finds an issue, he can tell us what it is.

You haven't read the bug report: the problem occurs with a *new* profile. And the problem seems to occur only on my machine. The extension works well on the developer's machine.

This could be determined with a profile https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Performance/Profiling_with_the_Built-in_Profiler

Can you still reproduce?

I no longer have my Mac OS X machine to test, and the extension was specific to Mac OS X.

A comment from this 2015 at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/clickcutter-autocopy-14077/ indicates CPU is still an issue.  The developer states there as a newer version of addon at http://clickcutter.com/
