It seems Sunbird is not using base/content/calendar-invitations-manager.js. Since CalDAV supports invitations for scheduling servers, this can be made part of Sunbird too.
I had a closer look at that and beleive I found out why: When an invitation is sent to a caldav calendar, the Event shows up directly in the calendar but is marked as an unconfirmed invitation (grayed). That is why we don't need the invitations-dialog in Sunbird. This dialog is only for invitations sent via eMail then. If this is true, it would make this bug invalid and reopen Bug 533217. Please can someone with a deeper knowledge of the CalDAV implementation comment on this. cc'ing bbrowning since he is listed as module owner for CalDAV
The events do show up directly in the calendar, but they also show up in the invitations manager, since you might not be looking three weeks in advance if there is a meeting that requires response.
There isn't anything particularly CalDAVish about this bug, other than the fact that CalDAV is the reason it would make sense to have this dialog in Sunbird at all. Sb lacks the UI bits; the CalDAV impl itself is shared between sb/ltn.
Sunbird code was removed from tree, bug is no longer required.
