In Firefox 3.6, we notice some visual changes in plugin windows which are different from Firefox 3.5.
First, the window set by the browser has a black background. In 3.6, on windows platform, the window has the same color as the document background.
Second, when the plugin windows is clicked, it is surrounded by a tiny dot line. The line remains when the focus is within the plugin window. We can see this in Sun's Java Plugin but not in some other plugins like adobe flash.
To reproduce it using Sun's java 1.6.0_10 and above, one simple trick is to rename the file java.exe to something else, like javaexe. Thus the java client process (the process that runs applet) can not start. In this way, we can see clearly the window set by Firefox.
The background issue somehow can affect end user experience if one applet wants to blend smoothly into the surrounding document.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install Sun JRE from java.sun.com
2.Goto C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin, rename java.exe to javaexe (the step is unnecessary to reproduce the issue. But make it clear to see)
3.launch the applet from http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/1.5.0/demos/jfc/SwingSet2/SwingSet2.html
4. see the background color of the applet area. Click it to see the dot line.
Actual Results:
black background
Expected Results:
Same background color as the document background

The dotted line is a focus indicator.
roc, any idea what's up with the background?
Is there anyway to disable the "focus ring"? It is not visible with flash plugin.

I believe roc has a patch in the works to disable the focus ring for plug-ins in general, for now.
The Java plugin probably isn't returning the correct value for NPPVpluginTransparentBool.

I can't reproduce this problem anymore with http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/1.5.0/demos/jfc/SwingSet2/SwingSet2.html and Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.3a5pre) Gecko/20100601 Minefield/3.7a5pre
I'm using Java JRE 6.0 Update 20.
